Former U.S. national security advisor John Bolton believes Israel's war in Gaza is "still in the very early stages" and says it has been complicated by Iran's involvement. Framing the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas as "an Iranian war against Israel," Bolton told CNBC's Dan Murphy: "The fact that Iran has not yet been held to account for any of it, suggests that we're still in the very early stages of the war." "This is not a Gaza versus Israel war, or a Palestinian versus Israel war, or an Arab versus Israel war. This is an Iranian war against Israel, fought through terrorist proxies," he told CNBC on Wednesday. Bolton is a noted foreign policy hawk and has previously advocated for regime change by the U.S. in Iran.

The two hit it off on Friday's episode of ABC's "Shark Tank," where Huang pitched his product, Cup-a-Bug, to the show's investor judges. Teen suicide: Study identifies behavioral risk factor

But you should pay more attention since social withdrawal could signal something deeper is going on, a new study has found. Across the globe, 10% to 20% of adolescents experience suicidal thoughts, and suicide is one of the leading causes of death among them, highlighting the need for strengthened prevention efforts. But the current study examined the associations between the long-term trajectory of multiple categories of psychological and behavioral symptoms and suicidal thoughts. But the link between social withdrawal and suicidal thoughts could be explained by the “loss of protective social connections,” according to the study. “If you hear a lot of complaints about aches and pains, it doesn’t (automatically) mean your child is suicidal,” Willard said.

The fishing shacks that once perched on the rocks at Willard Beach in South Portland were part of a childhood that Maureen Connolly described on Monday as “quintessential Maine.”The shacks, with lobster buoys hanging from their walls, had served as a backdrop for photographers and painters inspired by the rocky coastline, with its sailboats drifting by and dinghies bobbing in the water. The shacks, which were at least 150 years old, are no more. On Saturday, the last of them were swept into Casco Bay by surges of wind and water from a powerful East Coast storm. Ms. Connolly and others with a connection to South Portland learned of their destruction in a widely shared video of them tumbling into the water.

MEREDITH, N.H. (AP) — A record high tide in Maine washed away three historic fishing shacks that had stood since the 1800s and formed the backdrop of countless photographs. “It's truly a sad day for the community and the residents of South Portland,” Erskine said in an interview with The Associated Press on Sunday. A record 14.57-foot (4.4-meter) high tide was measured in Portland, Maine, just after noon on Saturday, after a storm surge amplified what was already the month's highest tide, said National Weather Service meteorologist Michael Cempa. Cempa said the tide gauge measures the difference between the high tide and the average low tide. “Very sadly, all three fishing shacks at Willard Beach have been completely destroyed,” the city wrote on its Facebook page.

London CNN —The US dollar is barreling toward a 3.7% loss this month against a basket of six major currencies in what would be it worst monthly performance in a year. For countries that depend on commodity imports, a weaker dollar means they have to pay less for essentials like wheat and crude oil. A number of up-and-coming economies have debts denominated in dollars, and a weaker dollar can make servicing those debts less expensive. A fall in the greenback’s value also signals better investment opportunities outside the United States, McCormick told CNN. “A weaker dollar is a rising tide that lifts all boats,” he said.

"The pressure is coming at companies, who are then putting pressure on suppliers," said Bob Willard, a corporate consultant and author of six books on sustainability. AstraZeneca suppliers are expected to annually report emissions data to the CDP and set science-based goals. "Tracking emissions data is no easy feat," says Karen Kerrigan, president and CEO of the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council. Small businesses already under economic stressAmid ongoing fears of recession, higher interest rates cutting into sources of capital, signs of weaker consumer demand, and labor market challenges, small businesses have focused more on employees and their bottom line than sustainability. The report found, as previous climate accounting has typically shown, that the majority of emissions come from suppliers.

David Willard has been checking the grounds of Chicago's lakefront exhibition center for dead birds for 40 years. Researchers estimate hundreds of millions of birds die in window strikes in the United States each year. When they see plants or bushes through windows or reflected in them, they head for them, killing themselves in the process. Pre-dawn rain forced the birds to drop to lower altitudes, where they found the McCormick Center’s lights on, Willard said. The first buildings at McCormick Center were constructed in 1959.

Shakespeare’s funerary monument in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. Photo: Brian Seed/Bridgeman ImagesIn the final act of “The Tempest,” the wizardly Prospero may have drowned his book of spells. But of making books about Shakespeare there is no end. In particular, a set of questions about the writer—concerning identity, authorship, legitimacy—has vexed readers for centuries. Of Shakespeare, we know a few things, but lack of knowledge has never prevented people from speculating, sometimes wildly.

CNN —Ohio voters rejected Tuesday an effort to raise the threshold to amend the state’s constitution ahead of a November referendum on whether to constitutionally guarantee abortion rights there, handing abortion rights advocates a critical victory. The measure was a GOP-led effort targeting an upcoming November referendum in which voters will decide whether to enshrine abortion rights in the state’s constitution. Already, voters in two deep-red states, Kansas and Kentucky, have rejected efforts to limit abortion rights (though abortion is still banned in Kentucky). The Democratic push to enshrine abortion rights in Michigan’s constitution played a key role in the party’s victories there in the 2022 midterm elections. Among his Republican challengers is Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, the state’s elections chief and the highest-profile proponent of Issue 1.

The fire began on Tuesday night on the 199-metre Panama-registered Fremantle Highway, which was en route from Germany to Egypt, forcing several crew members to jump overboard. Rescue ships sprayed water onto the burning boat to cool it down, but using too much water risked its sinking, the Dutch coastguard said. The coastguard said on its website that the cause of the fire was unknown, but a coastguard spokesperson had earlier told Reuters it began near an electric car. Coastguard spokesperson Edwin Granneman said salvage experts were trying to work out next steps for the burning boat. A fire destroyed thousands of luxury cars on a ship off the coast of Portugal's Azores islands in February last year.
